Sled Push
After the SkiErg comes the sled push. You push a loaded sled over a fixed distance, one way or there and back, depending on the track.
Pure leg power, not a technique station like the wall balls further on, but one where poor form costs you extra energy immediately.
How to do it
- Grip the top bar with straight arms
- Hinge at your hips, keep your back straight and chest forward
- Push with small, powerful steps from your legs
- Keep your core braced throughout
- Breathe under control, don't hold it
The sled moves through leg power, not by pushing with your upper body. Lean too far forward and you round your back and lose power.
Common mistakes
- Bending too far forward. Your back rounds and you lose power.
- Taking steps that are too big. Small, fast steps work better than long ones.
- Pushing with your upper body. The drive should come from your legs.
- Starting too fast. Leads to exhaustion before you're halfway.
- Wrong hand position. Too high or too low on the bar costs control.
