Farmers Carry

Pick up two weights and walk a fixed distance. Simple on paper, unforgiving on your grip and core.

On the farmers carry, grip often gives out before your legs do. Underestimate that and you lose time re-gripping over and over.

How to do it

  1. Stand between the weights and hinge at your hips
  2. Grip both handles firmly
  3. Stand up with a straight back and shoulders back
  4. Walk with short, quick steps
  5. Keep the weights close to your body

A stable core and steady breathing keep your grip going longer than raw strength does.

Common mistakes

  • Taking steps that are too long. Costs balance and speed.
  • Letting your shoulders round forward. Puts unnecessary strain on your back.
  • Dropping and re-gripping. Costs more time than pushing through at a slower pace.
  • Starting too fast. Grip gives out before your legs do.
  • Letting the weights swing. Inefficient carry that costs extra energy.
